Bobbie is a character played on Hogwarts Express MUSH. Here's her background:
Born on November 7, 1956, Roberta McElroy was marginally younger than her twin sister, Victriola. Their parents were Mundagus, a ministry employee, and Esther, who worked part-time in a bookstore on Diagon Alley. Her family wasn't poor, but they weren't quite rich either, and her parents worked for what they had.
Robbie and Vic spent a few days a week with Mims Babbrish, a squib who lived near them. Much of their early knowledge about Hogwarts came from Mims, as did a lot of their early teaching. It was also at Mims's house that Robbie first showed she had some magic in her, when she was around six and a half years old. She was playing catch with her sister in the yard when they got in a fight over whether Bobbie had made a bad throw or Vic couldn't catch, which soon resulted in a wrestling match after Bobbie tried to hit her sister. Vic had Bobbie pinned when, suddenly, Vic had bright pink hair--which, even though she couldnt see it, ended the fight rather quickly because Bobbie couldnt stop laughing. Mims couldn't do anything to fix it, though, so Vic had to live with pink hair until her mother came to get them.
Her sister Alistria was born when she was seven, and Carletta, yet another sister, was born when she was nine. She generally didn't get along with her younger sisters, as she was always a bit aloof and snobby, but her relationship with her twin was solid.
It wasn't surprising to anybody when Bobbie and Vic got their letters from Hogwarts, and the situation was dealt with in a surprisingly calm manner, considering that there were two girls leaving home and two sets of supplies to be bought and so on. Still, everything was in place by the time they arrived at Hogwarts.
Bobbie was, surprisingly enough, sorted into Ravenclaw, while her sister was sorted into Hufflepuff as most of the rest of the family had been. She excelled in that house, where she was able to throw herself entirely into her studies without anybody so much as raising an eyebrow over it.
She did well in almost all of her classes, with the exception being Arithmancy when she started taking it, and she always had something of a natural talent for charms (which she excelled at throughout her school years). She was a bit more lacking in the social department, as most of her peers shared her sister's opinion that she was stuck up and rude. As far as boys went, she was entirely content to watch them without touching; she was too shy or busy or, to be honest, stuck up to ever date during school, but that didn't mean she wasn't interested.
School was fairly normal for her until her fifth year. That was the year that Bobbie and Vic would be taking their OWLs, and they discussed not staying in school afterwards. In the end, Bobbie did an excellent job on her tests and did stay at school, but Vic didnt--she was offered a place on an American quidditch team, and she accepted the offer.
That sparked a fight between the sisters--Bobbie thought that Vic should stay in school, and Vic didn't want to, but that was really only the beginning of things. They had been growing in different ways during their years at Hogwarts, and a lot of those differences started coming out. Suffice it to say that insults were shouted, names were called, and none of the problems had been resolved when Vic went off to America to play quidditch. The two sisters are still not talking.
Still, life went on. Bobbie completed her last two years of school without much fuss. At one point during her sixth year she attempted to lose her Scottish accent, and her parents even paid for a dialect coach, but she was unable to lose it--her sister Alis did, though, and that's something she resents about her little sister. She also became incredibly interested in muggles during her last two years of school (even more than she had been previously). She graduated with high scores on her NEWTs.
After Hogwarts, she moved into a shabby flat in London (which she decorated with penguins of all sorts and sizes, but that's neither here nor there) and became an assistant to a Ministry Obliviator. She has also become fairly immersed in the muggle culture (she watches muggle films, listens to muggle music, eats in muggle restaurants--though that could be attributed to her own awful domestic skills--and rumor has it that she even dated a muggle) and loosened up quite a bit--she's friendlier now that she's out of school, and her relationship with her sister Alis has even improved a bit.
